Monitoring of Construction Performance
The Construction industry is currently facing unusual economic times. To save on expenses, mangers need to detect actual or potential schedule delay or cost overrun in field construction activities as soon as possible. Early detection of such deficiencies provides the opportunity to initiate remedial actions and increases the chance of controlling such overruns or minimizing their impacts.
This entails project managers to design, implement, and maintain a systematic and comprehensive approach for progress monitoring to promptly identify, process and communicate discrepancies between actual and planned performances as early as possible. In this paper, monitoring is defined as collecting, analyzing, recording, and reporting information concerning key aspects of project performance at an appropriate level of details required by project managers and decision makers.
